DRB Scottish Export 80/-

I really try to blog my beers before they are gone, but this one was kind of a surprising exception. I made this beer, along with the West Coast Stout for St. Pat’s day. The last 3 St. Pats days, I made a Scottish, an Amber and a Red.. I decided this… [...]

Bells Hopslam Poured on draft at South Philly Tap Room on…

Bells Hopslam Poured on draft at South Philly Tap Room on 3/31/10. Always been jonsing to try this one on draft and I found out last night the opportunity would present itself. It pours a nice deep golden color with minimal head that dissipates quick… [...]

Last Wednesday’s Drinkabout

When you hear “it got a bit out of hand” or “it jumped up a notch real fast” it could have easily referred to last Wednesday’s marathon of beering. The day started out innocently, as my Wednesdays off usually do, with a couple pints at O’Brien’s whi… [...]

Jolly Pumpkin to Release Biere De Mars Grand Reserve

Jolly Pumpkin will release the Grand Reserve version of their Biere De Mars French Style Stock Ale on Monday April 12th at the cafe in Ann Arbor. The beer was aged on oak for 18 months, and will be available in 330 ml bottles complete with a new label signifying it as Grand Reserve. Total production was around 800 bottles. Information on price and purchase limits are TBD, but should be available soon.

We also hear that there will be a “very special” tap pouring that day, so plan on sticking around the cafe for a pint.

Oh Happy Day #11 – Redhook 8-4-1 Expedition Ale

I love Oh Happy Days…   This time it is a new offering from Redhook in the form of a strong brown ale.  The brown sugar and honey immediately caught my eye and bring to mind thoughts of sweet and syrupy beer goodness… not too much, of course.  Will taste soon and post the results. [...] [...]

Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary – Fritz And Ken’s Ale

A collaboration between Sierra Nevada and Anchor, two breweries I’ve been a little dismissive of (especially since moving to California). Since it’s a stout, I’m hoping it’s not a crazy hop bomb. Classic roasty stout nose, a little coffee, a little ch… [...]

Of Weeds and Stone

So I was watching Netflix last night. A night like most other nights. This week I’m watching season 5 Showtime’s series, Weeds. It’s a great show. Although not as “real” as the first few seasons were, I still enjoying it. ***Spolier Alert***Episod… [...]

Super IPA: Like Taking Purple Sidewalk Chalk to the Tongue, Yum!

This month’s Ale Babe Beer Club was special. I finally was able to make the theme IPA. It took several months of maneuvering, but I ultimately put my foot down and said, “You babies are going to drink IPA and you’re going to like it!” I’m sure you’ve all noticed that over the past couple of years there has been a surge of IPA’s and Double IPA’s in the microbrew market. IPA used to conjure, “Huh?” from most of your fellow beer drinkers. Now, IPA provokes intellectual conversations about IBU. Nonetheless, IPA’s have spun off into their own beer niche… [...]
