I haven’t heard much blog talk about Seven Brides these days, and I’m wondering how often their beers see taps in the Portland area. That’s neither here nor there though. Lindemans Pêche Lambic | Chad’z Beer Reviews
Can you believe it's been about two years since I last reviewed a Belgian lambic? Well that streak ends today when I review another entry in the Lindemans lineup - the Pêche Lambic (made with peaches, of course). I've reviewed a few peach beers on the show before, but never a peach lambic. How would this one rate?
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Chad9976 (629) - Albany, New York, USA - MAR 11, 2012 How can anyone not like lambics? They’re basically just liquid candy and Lindemans Pêche Lambic is a perfect example. While it does indeed fit the definition of beer, it’s so fruit-forward and sweet you forget about the fact there’s malts and hops in this brew somewhere. I poured a 12oz capped and corked bottle into the official Lindemans flute glass. Appearance: Honey color, completely transparent, extremely effervescent. Forms only a coating of white suds which fizzle away quickly and leave no lacing. Smell: Cider-like aroma of tartness with subtle, raw, authentic peach fragrance. Slight farm scents of hay, grass, and fresh air. Taste: From the moment Lindemans Pêche Lambic hit my tongue my mouth became quite happy. This is a sweet beer from beginning to end and tastes just like candy, but without the artificial sweeteners. The flavor begins with a lightly sweet maple syrup-like taste, plus hard cider tartness. It then changes over to rich, natural peach juice. It’s somewhat reminiscent of canned peaches, but much closer to a perfectly ripened peach (not too hard, not too squishy). The finish reverts back to the beginning with additional sourness and tartness. It’s a tad sharp, but not quite as intense as the Pomme lambic made with green apples. The aftertaste is of maple syrup, peach and an earthy oaky component. It fades away rather quickly, but is very delectable while it’s in the mouth. I tried to pay attention to the malts and hops but the fruit flavor is too strong to overlook. That’s okay because it’s not bitter at all and the palate is so delectable despite the fact this beer is a slap in the face to the Reinheitsgebot (and I’m okay with that!). Drinkability: Though extremely fizzy to the eye, Lindemans Pêche Lambic is more of a gentle vibration in the mouth. The beer itself is thin, but very crisp like an IPA. It’s easier to drink in bigger gulps because it’s so refreshing, and is one of the few beers that’s actually better served cold. I’m not sure of the ABV, but most sources seem to indicate this is only 2.5%, which would certainly seem to make sense as it seems so light in all aspects (except taste). This would be a fantastic summer beer, but works quite well as a light dessert or when you want a change of pace.

H.
