Greg Koch, CEO and co-founder of Stone Brewing in California, is a man on a mission, a search for the authentic, no matter if it’s beer, food, or any other of life’s facets. “Mediocrity is dumbfounding to me,” Koch said. “One day, the thought of overly commoditized beer will be confusing for people. They’ll say [...] [...]

This topic this Session is wide open, I decided to take the price angle simply because it had the clearest answer. The cheapest beer I ever bought was with some stale cookies that were sent to me in college. They were sitting on a shelf and I shoul… [...]

A few weeks ago, I put forward my thoughts that the general lack of variety in German beer was not so much to do with the Reinheitsgebot as with the general conservativeness of the German public at large. Basically, despite the fact that the Reinheitsg… [...]
Overigens verontschuldigt Bi… [...]
We’ve all had “one of those days”. You know exactly what I’m talking about: work sucks, you’ve had a fight with your boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse, your kids have been bratty, the cat threw up on the rug, the dog chewed up your favorite slippers, your car won’t start, and your nearest and dearest (the ones who [...] [...]
I know I’ve been focusing more on sharing first time homebrewing stories with everyone in hopes of inspiring those people that aren’t doing it yet to do it, and those of you that haven’t in a while to get to it! A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive a copy of Beer Tools. For those of you unfamiliar with what Beer Tools is, it’s software…

Dogfish Head’s Neighbors Not Thrilled
The go ahead for the Dogfish Head expansion is still on hold. The local town council failed to vote on December 15th after 4 hours of debate. The neighbors are turning up the heat a bit on the proposal. So whats the matter? Dogfish wants to rezone 4o acres behind the brewery from residential to light industrial. That would cut down of potential new space for houses in Cannery Village. There are also increased truck traffic concerns. Also, what if Dogfish goes out of business or sells the location? Another industrial company (worse to have than a brewery) could… Read the rest [...] Read more →

Quadrinhos cervejeiros
[...] Read more →

On Turning 42
This year, the first night of Hanukkah coincides with my 42nd birthday. While that overlap should not have any real significance other than the coincidental overlap of one calendar that moves and one that remains in place, I decided to use the occasion to open my last bottle of Duck Duck Gooze. Thus, the juxtaposition [...] [...] Read more →
