Vertikalprovning: Oppigårds Winter Ale
Nu blir jag aningen osäker på i vilken ordning vi gjorde saker och ting förra veckan. Men jag tror att vi efter Strong Ale-provningen friskade upp smaklökarna med den andra flaskan Boon Kriek från 2003. Det var tur att jag hade med rejäla mängder glas, och att det fanns en snabb diskmaskin. För bara till de här parallellerna gick det åt 36 glas… Slottskällan Stong Ale är en öl som är tänkt att sparas och som mognar med tiden, men nu skulle det bli en öl som jag tror är tänkt att dricka färsk, bryggeriet skriver själva ”Kan med fördel lagras i cirka sex månader”. Hur funkar den efter några år? Winter Ale från Oppigårds Bryggeri är en öl jag en gång i tiden lite tveksamt kategoriserade som en brittisk winter warmer. Men med sina generösa mängder amerikansk humle tycker jag att den gränsar till en maltig amerikansk pale ale. Nå. Ölen kan knappast vara någon nyhet för er läsare, den har vunnit högvis med priser både på mässor och i julölsprovningar. Jag själv har recenserat den … … … för länge sedan, ser det ut som. Och inte på bloggen. Vintern 2005 gav jag den dock 3,98 och tyckte att den var aningen tunn i kroppen. Kanske dags för en ny recension så småningom? Historien bakom den här vertikalen är att min vän Morgan köpt för mycket julöl (ett ämne som han förresten gästbloggade om här), flaskor som sedan lagrats svalt och mörkt. Vid något tillfälle i höstas tyckte han att jag nog skulle ha mer utbyte av de där flaskorna än vad han skulle ha. Så jag fick en vardera 2009 och 2010. Och innan jul köpte jag själv någon flaska av den senaste. = = = Alla tre hade färgen gemensam: Vackert guldbrun. Klar vätska. 2009Litet skum. Karamell i doften. Lite gammal/dammig. Smak av vaniljsocker och lite russin. Trött. 2010Mer skum än 2009. Lättare doft Lite vinös, faktiskt. Mjuka smaker, inte lika dammig. Lite mer humle, men mindre beska. Torrare än 2009. 2011Skummar nästan ingenting. Frisk, färsk. Amerikansk humle. Här känner man igen Oppigårds. Lite tyngre och lite karamell. Citrus i doften. Citrus även i smaken. Torr maltighet.
